The NBA’s domestic violence policy must improve

If the league’s interest are in fact to prevent domestic violence and not to evade the spotlight of the media, they should look into restorative justice, as simply not resigning players doesn’t help address the systemic nature of the problem. I’d love to see some funds from the lucrative television deal the NBA recently signed dedicated to addressing the problem of domestic violence. Perhaps something similar to their “wordplay” commercials (in partnership with The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) confronting homophobic language a couple years back. More clearly, they should seek partnerships with organizations already working towards ending gender based violence. For example: Men Can Stop Rape, Man Up Campaign, Coach For America, A Call To Men.
